FPAC Eligibility Criteria  

To enroll for the FPAC course candidate are required to meet the below mentioned eligibility criteria – 

  • Have a bachelor's or equivalent degree or pursuing an undergraduate program with a finance related major and graduate within 2 years
  • Candidates must agree to comply with the AFP Standards of Ethical Conduct

To qualify and receive the FPAC certification candidates are also required to meet the below mentioned experience and education criteria – 

  • 3 years’ experience in FP&A job tasks for candidates with bachelor’s in accounts, finance, economics or business or a equivalent degree
  • 2 years’ experience in FP&A job tasks for candidates with bachelors or equivalent degree in any subject matter combined with a Masters’ degree or higher or an equivalent degree in finance, accounting, economics or business related field
  • 3 years’ experience in FP&A job tasks with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in non-finance subjects along with 3 semester hours and 6 semester hours of college-level course work or equivalent in finance and financial accounting or managerial accounting 
  • 3 years’ experience in FP&A job tasks with Bachelor's or equivalent in non-finance subject along with an approved accounting or finance credential

FPAC Exam

The FPAC course has a 2 part exam with 140 questions in part 1 and 55 questions in part 2. The FPAC course also offers the liberty of taking the 2 part exam as you find convenient – it can be taken in any order, either separately or together within the 60 day window. 

Once the candidate has cleared both parts of the FPAC exam and all eligibility criteria are met then he/she is officially considered an FP&A Professional. However, every year qualified FPAC professionals are required to earn 45 continuing education credits in order to retain their certification.
